A total of 45 flats (675 Rhododendrons) were sold at Plane View Nursery, Portsmouth, RI on May 12, 2007. Many of the 13 flats that remain will benefit from having more time to establish better roots.
The plan for next year is to increase production to 90 flats which is about half way between this year's level and levels we have obtained in the past.
As always our goal will be to root plants that are not common in the trade. Less common Dexters and Westons always do well at both member and public sales. Indumented rhododendrons, hardy evergreen azaleas, early hardy lepidotes, late rhododendrons, and unnamed good doers are also good sellers.
If you know a member who has a rhododendron you desire, see if you can get cuttings.
This upcoming year we will again encourage purchase of plants by members who live outside the Boston area but who have growing conditions similar to ours.
If you are a member and have an interest in learning more about how you can obtain P4M plants or donate cuttings to P4M contact John Perkins at John.A.Perkins@gmail.com
