Founders' Day BRunch
Sunday November 6 Note the early date
PAPA RAZZI WELLESLEY 11:30 Am
We will have our brunch again at the Wellesley Papa Razzi at 16 Washington St., Wellesley, at 11:30. Papa Razi is just off Route 128 (I-95) at Route 16, heading west. The menu, like last year's, sounds delicious: fresh fruit platter, assorted breakfast breads, green salad, chicken, pasta, scrambled eggs, bacon, roasted vegetables, and coffee and tea.
We are bringing our Dick Brooks Memorial Speaker all the way from the west coast. Steve Hootman, the Executive Director and Curator of the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden, will speak to us about "Plant Hunting in South –Central China and Northern Vietnam: A New Frontier." He will discuss the landscapes, culture, and flora and show pictures from his last three expeditions to this region, which has become his primary focus for the past several years. This should be a great travelogue by one of the rhododendron world's great modern plant explorers.
We will also have our annual Seed Exchange. John Perkins has taken on the mantle of selecting and producing the Cross of the Year. If you have seed to contribute to the exchange, bring your labeled contributions in paper or glassine bags, not plastic bags [thanks Joe Bruso for emphasizing that].
