FIELD TRIP TO SEAWRIGHT GARDENS ON JULY 20
On Tuesday, July 20, at 10:30 a.m. we have been invited to tour a pre-eminent daylily garden by its owner and breeder Bob Seawright. The garden should be at its peak in mid-July, and Bob has promised to tell us all about the new developments in daylilies. After our talk by Terry McGarty, we should be knowledgeable enough to understand some of the hybridizing strategies and goals. Besides 600 varieties of daylilies to choose from, Bob has a lovely display garden of hostas with plants to sell as well. For more information, go to his web site: www.daylilies-hostas.com.
Carlisle has another garden that is a favorite for many members: Leo Blanchette's nursery is very close by. We could bring a lunch or go to Kimball's Ice Cream Stand after Seawright Gardens then proceed to Leo's. Please call or email us if you are interested and intend to come so Bob has an idea of how large the group will be (781.259.0968 or dsh1965@comcast.net). We will be away for part of July, but you can leave a message on the phone.
