Display Garden Work Parties

The following announcement is from Pete Littlefield, co-chair of the Display Garden Committee.
Please contact him directly with any responses to this notice.

Now that the sun is taking away the snow and we can assess the amount of deer damage during the winter, it is time to think about getting the Chapter's Rhododendron Display Garden ready for the season.  To that end Jim Aplin and I have scheduled an initial cleanup session for Saturday, April 4th from 9:30 to noon.  If you can make it over for even an hour of so during that period you contribution will be appreciated.  If you let me know either by phone or email that you are coming over I'll have coffee and donuts available for you.  More importantly I can let you know if we have to postpone due to weather.

The Design Committee met a couple of weeks ago and have some great ideas for the Garden, the best of which is an entirely new garden area around the Sweeney Bench.  Design details are in the works.  We may be able to get started on this new area on the 4th depending on the number of volunteers that can make it on that date.

We have also selected 2 other dates to complete the work necessary to get the garden ready for the Open House on May 3rd.  These dates are Friday, April 24th and Thursday, April 30thPlease keep these dates in mind also.

Thanks,

Pete Littlefield
