September Rhododendron Events

Dear fellow Mass Chapter members,

 

As every year, the September Mass Chapter newsletter marks the start of another cycle of rhododendron activities.  Hopefully you have all received it by now and have browsed it for upcoming activities.  I want to bring your attention to 2 events scheduled this month:

 

Chapter Meeting – Wednesday, September 17, 7:00 PM, Waltham Field Station

The first meeting of the year, this will be a busy one.  Two of the activities at this meeting deserve special note:

 

1.      Donated Plant Sale – please bring your extra rhododendrons and companion plants for sale to your fellow gardeners.  This is a good opportunity to share plants you have in abundance with those who would like to have them.  Proceeds go to a worthy rhododendron-related cause.  See the Newsletter for details.

 

Rhododendron 'Dick Brooks'

Thanks to George Hibben's generosity, we will have on sale a small number of plants of  rhododendron 'Dick Brooks'.

 

2.      Pot Luck Dinner – for the first time, this year's kickoff chapter meeting will feature a pot-luck dinner.  Please bring your favorite dish, dessert, etc.  Again, see the Newsletter for details.

 

 

Display Garden Party, Sunday, September 21, Elm Bank, 2-4 PM

This annual event has seen some beautiful weather in past years.  This is a great time of the year to enjoy the garden and socialize with fellow members.  Details are in the Newsletter.
