Joe Bruso Speaks To Scituate Garden Club

The Scituate Garden Club's first spring meeting will take place at Scituate Town Library on April 10 at 7 p.m. There will be an illustrated lecture presented by Joseph Bruso describing the 27 species of the rhododendron native to North America. “Proven performers,” those species that do well in New England gardens, will be highlighted.

Bruso is the part-time proprietor of Boulderwoods Nursery in Hopkinton, which is a rhododendron and magnolia nursery. He is a board member of the American Rhododendron Society, Mass Chapter; chairman of the ARS, Mass Chapter's Propagation Group; and lecturer on rhododendron and magnolia propagation for the New England Wildflower Society. Refreshments will be served, and all can enjoy a horticultural competition amongst contributing members based on "the first bloom of spring.”
