Hybridizing For New Hampshire

Tour 5 of New Hampshire's better rhododendron gardens by viewing the
images from a 20 minute presentation on Hybridizing for New Hampshire
given by Sally and John Perkins at the 2006 ARS Convention in
Rockville, MD provided by the link below.

Hybridizing for New Hampshire

The images include both rhododendrons and azaleas that do well in zone 5 New Hampshire starting with proven performers in the front where lesser known and lesser tested plants follow. Most of the rhododendrons shown bloomed fully after our very cold January 2004.

Rhododendron Bloom in Concord MA June 6-16

Rhododendron Bloom in Concord, MA

June 6-16, 2006

It's been fascinating reading the Perkins' posts about what is in bloom at Canobie Lake, NH and comparing it with my garden in Concord, MA. We really do live in rather different places. Right now I have my late mid-season plants in full bloom at the same time as many late plants -never had Robert Alison blooming at the same time as Delayed Surprise. Summer Summit and Summer Snow still pretty tight. Disca, Robert Alison and Cadis have never been so perfect. It's been a beautiful, if peculiar spring. And the rain has stopped!

Dear Board,

Doug is taking our exhibit, which will be part of the Educational

on Saturday and Sunday. Some of you have volunteered to work in the
garden as guides and answer questions. The exhibit is unmanned in the
house. This is the schedule: Saturday 10 – 1 p.m. will be Susan Clark
and Betty Carhlian; 1-4 will be George Silverman; Sunday 10 – 1 will
be Pete Littlefield and 1-4 will be Doug & Susan Harding, who will
take down exhibit at end. Thanks for volunteering at the last board
meeting.

Hope for good weather!!!
